Connecting Braided Fishing Lines To Monofilament Fishing Lines
Spectra Fishing Line To Monofilament Fishing Line With the advent of new super braids, anglers have battled with finding simple yet effective ways of joining monofilament with these slick new braided lines. For connecting mono with hollow spectra, Terrell Smith of Smitty’s Belts recommends this simple yet powerful method that was developed by Cordland.
This simple connection is completed by inserting three to four feet of monofilament inside of the hollow spectra. Apply a dab of Pliobond to the mono where it enters the spectra. Next, bring the spectra to cover the glue, remove any excess and tie a nail knot on the outside of the spectra to cinch the spectra down to the monofilament. This terrific connection runs smoothly through rod guides.
Although most typical fishing knots will slip and fail with spectra….the principle of the finger puzzle is both effective and easy to use when applied to this purpose. As the hollow weave of the spectra is pulled, it constricts, applying pressure to the inserted monofilament. The more that line is pulled, the more that the spectra constricts and the tighter it holds.
